Informed estimate
GTA 6 is not out yet, so the specifics below are an educated estimate, not confirmed by Rockstar. We update this guide the moment official details land.
Let us start with the honest part: Rockstar has not announced a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI, let alone published official system requirements. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and based on how Rockstar handled GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, a PC release is widely expected to follow the console launch rather than arrive alongside it, likely by roughly a year.
So why a requirements page now? Because once official specs drop, this is the page that should already rank. The estimates below are built from the confirmed console target hardware and Rockstar's PC history. We will replace every number here with the real spec sheet the moment Rockstar publishes it.
Estimated PC requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-8600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |
| GPU | NVIDIA RTX 2060 / AMD RX 5700 (8 GB) | NVIDIA RTX 4070 / AMD RX 7800 XT (12 GB+) |
| RAM | 16 GB | 32 GB |
| Storage | 150 GB SSD | 150 GB NVMe SSD |
Unofficial estimate based on PS5 and Xbox Series X target hardware plus Rockstar's GTA 5 and RDR2 PC history. Not confirmed by Rockstar.
Why an SSD is almost certain
The PS5 and Xbox Series X were built around fast solid-state storage, and GTA 6's streaming of a map larger than GTA 5's leans on that speed. Every modern Rockstar-scale open world has pushed toward SSD-only requirements, so plan on an SSD rather than a hard drive. A mechanical drive may not be supported at all.
How much storage to set aside
GTA 5 ballooned well past 100 GB on PC over its life, and Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped around 150 GB. A world this size with day-one updates makes 150 GB a sensible floor to keep free, and it would not be a surprise to see that climb after patches.
Frequently asked questions
Is GTA 6 confirmed for PC?
Not yet. Rockstar has only confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. A PC version is widely expected based on the studio's history, but nothing is official until Rockstar says so.
Are these the official GTA 6 PC requirements?
No. Rockstar has not released official requirements. The specs on this page are an informed estimate based on the console hardware and past Rockstar PC ports. We will update them when official specs are published.
Will GTA 6 need an SSD on PC?
Almost certainly. The console versions are built around fast SSD storage to stream the world, so an SSD is the safe expectation for the PC version, with a mechanical hard drive possibly unsupported.
How much storage will GTA 6 take up?
Expect to keep at least 150 GB free. That is in line with Red Dead Redemption 2 and accounts for the large map and launch updates, though the final size could be higher after patches.
