Will GTA 6 Have Roleplay and Private Servers? What Rockstar's Hiring Actually Shows

Rockstar has never announced community servers for GTA 6, but it owns FiveM and it has been hiring for something called the Creator Platform. Here is what the job listings actually say, what is genuinely unknown, and why none of it is a promise.

Unconfirmed

This is based on leaks and reporting, not an official Rockstar statement. Treat it as a strong signal rather than fact until confirmed.

Short answer: nothing about roleplay or private servers in GTA 6 has been announced, and anyone telling you it is confirmed is reading job listings as if they were a press release. What is true is that the circumstantial case is stronger than it has ever been, because Rockstar now owns the company behind FiveM and has been staffing a team it calls the Creator Platform.

This page separates the three things that usually get blended together in coverage of this topic: what Rockstar has actually said, what its hiring implies, and what remains completely open.

What the job listings say

In early July 2026, several outlets noticed a cluster of openings on Rockstar's careers site grouped under a Creator Platform banner. Beebom counted nine roles across London, New York, and Scotland, described in broad terms as providing technology, tools, and solutions that improve the creator experience. TheGamer reported that one listing referred to players experiencing content on fully customised dedicated servers running their own game modes.

That phrase is the entire basis for the community server story. It is a real quote from a real listing, and it is also a single line in a hiring ad. It names no game, no release window, and no feature set. TweakTown, TechPowerUp, and GamesHub all covered the same listings and all framed their reporting as inference, with GamesHub saying outright that it is too early to state what is in development.

Why FiveM makes this plausible

The reason this rumor has legs is ownership. FiveM is the modding platform that made GTA 5 roleplay servers a genre of their own, and Rockstar spent years fighting that scene before buying Cfx.re outright in 2023. It then built the Cfx Marketplace, a storefront selling digital content for those servers. A company that acquires the roleplay ecosystem and starts monetizing it is not an obvious candidate to abandon the idea in its next game.

The recent history points the same way. Take-Two spent 2026 shutting down every unlicensed GTA 5 multiplayer platform, taking alt:V offline in July and setting RageMP's end date for August 31. What is left is FiveM, the one platform Rockstar owns. Consolidating an ecosystem down to the version you control is what you do before you extend it, not before you drop it.

When could this realistically happen?

Not at launch. Rockstar's own store listings describe GTA 6 as a single-player experience, and the online component is expected to follow later. GTA Online arrived about two weeks after GTA 5, and Red Dead Online about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2, but neither of those shipped with anything resembling a creator platform on day one.

A community server layer would sit further out still, after GTA 6 Online itself is established. Hiring for a platform team in mid-2026 for a game launching in November 2026 suggests groundwork rather than a launch feature. Treat 2027 and beyond as the realistic window, and treat any specific date you see as invented until Rockstar says otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

Will GTA 6 have FiveM?

Not as FiveM by name, and nothing has been announced. Rockstar owns Cfx.re, the organization behind FiveM, and is hiring for a Creator Platform team, which many read as the successor to that technology. No official confirmation exists that GTA 6 will support community servers.

Will GTA 6 have roleplay servers?

Unannounced. A Rockstar job listing referred to fully customised dedicated servers running their own game modes, which is the closest thing to a signal, but the listing does not name GTA 6 and Rockstar has not commented.

Can I host a private GTA 6 server?

Not at launch. GTA 6 ships November 19, 2026 as a single-player experience, with the online component arriving later. Any player-hosted server support would come after that, if it comes at all.

Is the GTA 6 Creator Platform official?

The hiring is real and visible on Rockstar's careers site. What the platform is, which game it serves, and what it will let players do are all unconfirmed. Rockstar has made no announcement.
