Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 in two editions: a Standard Edition at 79.99 dollars and an Ultimate Edition at 99.99 dollars. That is a 20 dollar gap, and the important thing to understand up front is what it does and does not buy you.
Both editions contain the full base game and the exact same story. The Ultimate Edition does not add missions you cannot otherwise reach, extra map, or any progression or gameplay advantage. What it adds is cosmetic and gear content plus some extra places to spend money in-game.

What both editions get
Every pre-order, Standard or Ultimate, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack as long as you order before launch. It bundles a '55 Vapid Stanier and a garage on Ocean Beach, outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a vintage weapon pattern. This bonus is not exclusive to the pricier edition.
Worth knowing before you buy physical: boxed copies ship with a download code rather than a disc, and there is no confirmed disc version for launch or after.
What the Ultimate Edition actually adds
The Ultimate Edition bundles an exclusive set of premium vehicles, weapon variants, and apparel, along with five customization businesses that are closed to Standard players: two car mod shops, a clothing store, a hair salon, and a tattoo parlor. It also includes exclusive side content. None of it touches the main campaign, which plays out the same either way.
Which should you buy?
For most people, the Standard Edition is the smart default. You get the entire game with nothing cut from the story, and part of GTA's appeal has always been earning your money and unlocking shops through play rather than paying to open them from the start.
The Ultimate Edition makes sense if you already know you will pour dozens of hours into Leonida and want the widest set of vehicles, weapons, and cosmetic options available on day one, or if you simply like collecting in-game looks and do not mind 20 dollars for the extras. If you are on the fence, save the 20 dollars. Nothing about the core game is locked away from Standard players.
