This post describes what the clip covers in general terms and does not detail what happens in it. Cyberleek posted the footage on August 26, hours after Rockstar's Instagram statement asked people to wait and experience the game themselves on November 19. GamesRadar and Kotaku both covered it the same day. The clip runs a little over four minutes and covers Lucia's prologue, the opening stretch of her story. It puts her in prison in an orange jumpsuit, the setting shown in the first official trailer back in December 2023, and fills in backstory around how she got there. What makes this different from the fourteen clips before it is the category of thing being leaked. Everything to this point was mechanics and world: driving, combat, a strip club, a nudist resort, a nightclub interior, a game store. Those spoil nothing about the campaign. This is plot, and it is the plot of the opening, which is the part of a Rockstar game most carefully staged. It also follows through on the demand Cyberleek attached to its August 24 poll, when it asked supporters whether they wanted a Lucia-led prologue and set a condition involving people turning up outside Take-Two and Rockstar's offices in leek costumes.
Cyberleek attached on-screen text to the clip reading 'This build is actually recent, and the game is not ready at all,' a claim about the build's age that Rockstar's own statement cuts against, since Rockstar said the game is nearly finished. Per Kotaku, the leaker also used the post to criticize Sony and Rockstar over game ownership and to make claims about working conditions. None of those claims are verified. GamesRadar noted the timing works as an answer to Rockstar rather than a coincidence. The Netflix Extended Look premieres on August 27 at 3 PM ET, with the same footage on Rockstar's YouTube channel at 9 PM ET.
