The GTA 6 Delay Story Going Around This Week Is Built on a Month-Old Clip

A wave of coverage on July 24 and 25 framed Jason Schreier as having new comments on whether GTA 6 makes November 19. The clip is roughly a month old, he did not change his position, and the 90 percent figure being passed around is about the release date, not how finished the game is.

If you saw a GTA 6 release date story cross your feed this week, check the date on the source before you react to it. The Schreier comments driving the coverage come from a YouTube appearance from around four weeks ago, resurfaced by a GTA 6 countdown account on X and then written up across a run of outlets on July 24 and 25. Game Rant, one of the sites covering it, says plainly in its own piece that the assessment originated four weeks earlier. Nothing new was said this week.

The number getting mangled is the 90 percent. Schreier put the chance of GTA 6 making November 19 without another delay at roughly 90 percent, describing Rockstar as pretty confident the release is actually happening and saying that unlike previous dates, this one feels real. That is a confidence figure about the calendar, sourced from people inside the studio. It is not a claim that the game is 90 percent built, which is how a chunk of the coverage and most of the follow-on posts have read it. GTA BOOM ran a piece specifically to correct that reading, and GameSpot covered the whole cycle as a delay rumor being shot down.

This has happened to the same comments before. In January, Schreier said GTA 6 was not yet content complete, meaning missions were still being finalized. That got taken as a delay signal, he corrected the record at the time and said he would not be surprised if the game shipped on schedule, and the story went around anyway. Worth keeping in mind that how complete a game is at a given moment tells you very little about whether it hits its date. The things that actually anchor November 19 have not moved: pre-orders have been live since June 25, Take-Two named the date in an SEC filing, and the CEO is on record saying it will not slip.
