GTA 6 Now Shows an Official ESRB Mature Rating, Including an In-Game Purchases Label

Rockstar's GTA 6 page is now displaying an official ESRB M for Mature rating with seven content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. The rating also carries an In-Game Purchases notice, though Take-Two has said the game launches without an online mode or recurrent consumer spending.

Rockstar's official GTA 6 page is now showing an ESRB M for Mature rating, with seven content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. Screen Rant reported the rating on October 1 and noted the descriptor list is identical to GTA 5's.

The rating also carries an In-Game Purchases notice alongside the content descriptors. The ESRB applies that label broadly, covering upgrades, season passes, DLC, and virtual currency, and does not distinguish one-time purchases from ongoing microtransactions. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said at the September 17 shareholder meeting that GTA 6 launches without an online mode or recurrent consumer spending. The GTA Online component is expected to arrive after the game's launch.

GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. No PC release date has been confirmed.
