Rockstar's Rob Nelson Tells IGN Players Can Rob Almost Any Business in GTA 6, With a Police Impound Lot Called Out During the Demo

IGN published its full interview with Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, on October 7. Nelson said players can rob pretty much anything in GTA 6, and recalled driving past a police impound lot during the demo when Jason called it out as a target. Insider Gaming and Dexerto both covered the interview the same day.

Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, spoke with IGN in an interview published October 7. Insider Gaming and Dexerto both covered it the same day. On what can be robbed: 'You can rob pretty much anything. So we can go into this place where you buy headphones, for example, and rob it.' Nelson also recalled driving past a police impound lot during the demo, when Jason called it out as a possible target. Robberies can be done as Jason and Lucia together or solo.

On getaways, Nelson told IGN: 'The partner can drive pretty well, so you can often have the partner drive to get you away from the cops.' That puts the player in the passenger seat with a weapon while their partner handles the wheel. Nelson also explained that police work from what they have actually seen: clothing, vehicle, and whether Jason and Lucia are operating together. Cars can be scanned to show what they would fetch at a Pay n' Spray or a car fence.

Nelson said the personal vehicle carries spare outfits and can be called at any time. Ryde Me, the in-game rideshare app, doubles as fast travel across Leonida. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
