Zelnick at Take-Two's Annual Meeting: GTA 6 Ships Single-Player Only, No Recurrent Spending, and GTA Online Carries On

At Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting on September 17, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed GTA 6 ships as a single-player title with no recurrent consumer spending at launch, and pledged continued support for both GTA Online and GTA 5 Online beyond the release. GTA BOOM, Inven Global, and GamingBolt reported on the meeting.

Strauss Zelnick addressed Take-Two Interactive's annual shareholder meeting on September 17, formalizing positions on GTA 6's launch structure. 'We're launching GTA 6 as a single player experience on two major platforms,' he told investors. On spending at launch: 'there's no recurrent consumer spending anticipated with regard to this launch,' per GTA BOOM. GTA BOOM also reported that the game will ship in 13 languages at launch.

The meeting produced Take-Two's clearest public commitment on GTA Online's future. 'We will continue to support GTA Online after GTA VI release and beyond,' the company said, per GamingBolt. Zelnick added that GTA 5 Online 'continues to be a robust business for us.' Zelnick told shareholders GTA V has remained a top-five selling title for 13 years with over 230 million lifetime copies sold.

The shareholder meeting comes the same day Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, in separate remarks at Tokyo Game Show on September 17, told Bloomberg he expects GTA 6 Online to arrive in 2027 based on conversations with Rockstar. Rockstar has not confirmed that. Zelnick's investor statements do not name a year for the GTA 6 multiplayer component. His comment on further marketing: 'More specific marketing information will, of course, come from Rockstar Games,' per GTA BOOM. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
