The Phone
GTA 6's phone is an object in the world rather than a menu drawn over the HUD. Jason or Lucia physically pulls it out and the camera moves in on their hand. It carries the confirmed apps: Snapmatic, WAINK and Ryde Me.
The change from GTA 5 is presentational and it matters. In GTA 5 the phone was an image in the corner of the screen with the world continuing untouched behind it. In GTA 6, per Vice's breakdown of the Extended Look, the phone is a physical object within the game world rather than a traditional interface placed over the HUD, and the camera moves closer to the character's hand whenever it is used. Pulling out a phone is something the character does, which means it takes time and leaves them visibly occupied.
Three apps have been named in the footage and the preview coverage. Snapmatic is the social feed, browsable but not postable, because both leads are fugitives avoiding a digital trail. WAINK scans a parked car before you take it and reports value, personal registration cost, lock, alarm and tracker. Ryde Me is the rideshare app that doubles as fast travel, with conversations available during the ride.
That is the full confirmed list. Rockstar has not named a messaging app, a banking app or a browser, and the apps circulating in leak roundups have not appeared in official footage. How many apps ship, whether the phone can be pulled out during a chase, and whether it can be lost or destroyed are all unconfirmed.
