Jason and Lucia can swap between two firearms on the fly without opening a weapon wheel, and can wield certain weapons one-handed, which is how a character fires while carrying a duffel bag in the other hand.
The Extended Look showed two specific changes to how guns are held rather than how they shoot. The first is instant swapping: Engadget's breakdown describes Lucia moving between a rifle and her pistol at the outdoor target range without dipping into a weapon wheel, so a second weapon is a button away rather than a menu away. The second is one-handed carry, shown when Lucia held a shotgun in one hand while carrying a bag with the other.
Those two together change what a character can do while their hands are full, which is the situation most robbery escapes put them in. Carrying the take out of a job no longer means holstering everything first.
The carry limit has since been confirmed. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson told TGG in a Q&A published September 7 2026 that a character can always carry two concealed handguns plus two long guns that show on the back or in hand; see the Weapon Carry Rules entry. A redesigned weapon wheel with weapon and item tabs and vehicle trunk storage still come only from leak roundups and have not appeared in official footage or Rockstar's own descriptions.
