Dolphins are in GTA 6 and the player can swim with them. Rockstar's Extended Look shows it in the activities montage, and Vice lists dolphins among the animals recorded in the Wildlife Log.
Rockstar's Extended Look on August 27 2026 includes a swim with dolphins in its montage of side activities. Shacknews, running down what the montage covered, lists swimming with dolphins alongside kayaking, sunbathing and basketball. It is one of the few animal interactions Rockstar has shown as something the player does rather than something in the background.
Vice's post-preview coverage, based on the July 2026 Rockstar North preview session, names dolphins among the species that can be examined and recorded in the Wildlife Log. Dolphins are not in the species that coverage of Game Informer Issue 382 picks out by name, though the feature's count of more than 170 species covers far more than the handful listed.
Dolphins are not new to the series. They were added to Grand Theft Auto V with the 2014 PS4 and Xbox One release, where they swim off the coast of Los Santos. Where dolphins appear off Leonida, and whether swimming with them is a marked activity or simply something that happens in open water, is unconfirmed until launch.
