Vice's post-preview coverage, drawing on the July 2026 Rockstar North preview session, includes a wildlife checklist among the confirmed systems: a Red Dead Redemption 2-style log that records animals the player encounters in Leonida. Vice's wording is that wildlife found in captivity or out in Leonida can be examined and recorded, which puts a zoo alongside the open world as a place to fill it in. Whether examining means a Red Dead style study prompt, and whether the log ties to rewards, achievements, or story content, is not described in that coverage.

Vice's species list runs to alligators, boars, dogs, snakes, flamingos, dolphins, and sharks, and official footage backs several of them: alligators in the Grassrivers wetlands and dolphins in the Extended Look's swimming montage. The breadth of the map, from Keys reef water to Grassrivers wetland to Mount Kalaga highland, suggests the full species list covers a wide range of terrain. Red Dead Redemption 2 built its wildlife system around studying and cataloguing animals; whether GTA 6 takes a similarly hands-on approach, or whether the log simply fills in as animals pass near the player, is unconfirmed until launch.
