Sharks are confirmed for GTA 6 twice over: Vice lists them among the animals recorded in the Wildlife Log, and Game Informer Issue 382 names them among Leonida's marine species. Which kinds of shark, and whether they attack, is unconfirmed.
Vice's post-preview coverage, based on the July 2026 Rockstar North preview session, names sharks among the species the Wildlife Log records. Game Informer Issue 382, published September 29 2026, lists sharks again in its marine wildlife alongside whales, rays, turtles and jellyfish.
Neither source says which species of shark are in the game or how they behave. With scuba diving confirmed as an activity and much of the map made up of coastline and the Leonida Keys, the player will spend real time in open water, so it matters. Rockstar has not shown a shark attack in any GTA 6 footage.
The series has form here. Sharks in Grand Theft Auto V patrol deep water and will kill a swimming player, and the 2014 PS4 and Xbox One release added hammerheads alongside the original tiger sharks. Whether GTA 6 keeps sharks as a hazard is unconfirmed until launch.
