GTA 6's Extended Look Drew 31.1 Million Netflix Views in Four Days, Topping Charts in 87 Countries

Netflix's weekly viewership data for the August 27 to 30 window shows Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look pulled 31.1 million views, placing it first in the English-language film category in 87 of the 93 countries Netflix tracks. The Whisper Man finished second with 23.2 million views.

Netflix's weekly chart for August 24 through August 30 shows Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look at 31.1 million views, all of them earned in the four days after it went up on August 27. Variety reported the figures on September 1, drawing on Netflix's Tudum data. The total is enough to make it what Netflix called its most-watched title for the week, and it claimed the top slot in the English-language film category in 87 of the 93 countries Netflix tracks. Push Square, also reporting September 2, described the lead as comfortable.

The Whisper Man, a scripted thriller, finished second with 23.2 million views in the same category. Netflix had six hours of exclusivity on the Extended Look before Rockstar posted the same footage to its own YouTube channel at 9 PM ET on August 27. By the time GamingBolt published, Rockstar's YouTube upload had accumulated 17 million views on its own, with the full audience across unauthorized re-uploads and other platforms pushing the combined reach higher still.

The Extended Look has a permanent home on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site, so the Netflix count captures only one slice of a much larger audience. The premiere came the day after Cyberleek posted Lucia's story prologue, the first real plot spoiler of the campaign. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
