Rockstar published a Newswire post on August 6 confirming that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 PM ET. Netflix subscribers get the material six hours before it goes to Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site, which will both carry it at 9 PM ET the same evening. Netflix has a Tudum page up for it, and the announcement came with new artwork showing Jason and Lucia in balaclavas outside a gas station.
The format is new for Rockstar. Both previous trailers went straight to YouTube with no exclusivity window for any partner platform. Netflix is calling it a first-of-its-kind partnership, with VP of nonfiction series Brandon Riegg saying the company is honored Rockstar partnered with it. Calling this an extended look also implies something longer or more substantial than the two trailers, though Rockstar has not stated a runtime or described what the video will contain. No actual gameplay footage has been shown yet.
The announcement lands on August 6, the date Tom Henderson had been pointing at since February, though he expected the video itself to drop that day rather than a date for it, and he framed the call as a personal guess tied to Take-Two's Q1 FY2027 earnings call on August 7 rather than anything he had been told. NateTheHate separately said in late July that he expected 'a fair bit' of GTA 6 content this month. August 27 puts the reveal just under three months out from the November 19 launch.
