The workhorse mid-to-long range weapons that anchor GTA combat and heists.
Assault rifles are the backbone of serious firefights in GTA, the go-to for shootouts, heists, and holding off waves of police. Rockstar has not shown a detailed weapon lineup for GTA 6 yet, but this class is a near-certainty given its role in every modern entry.
Expect a range of carbines and full-size rifles with heavy customization: optics, grips, magazines, muzzle attachments, and liveries. This is usually the most modded weapon class in GTA Online, and GTA 6 is likely to continue that.
