Alligator
The alligator is the most visible animal in GTA 6's marketing. Trailer 1 shows one being hauled out of a swimming pool and another walking into a store, Rockstar's Grassrivers description calls the gators the region's most famous attraction, and Game Informer Issue 382 names the species among Leonida's 170-plus animals.
Alligators have been part of GTA 6 since the first footage. Trailer 1, released in December 2023, includes a run of viral-style clips in which an alligator is pulled from a residential swimming pool and another wanders into a convenience store. Both are staples of real Florida local news, and the point of the scene is that Leonida's wildlife does not stay in the swamp.
Rockstar's own description of Grassrivers, the Everglades-inspired wetland region, leads with them: 'The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves.' Official footage shows alligators in the water there alongside airboats. Game Informer Issue 382, published September 29 2026, names alligators in its list of confirmed species, and Vice's post-preview coverage lists them among the animals that can be examined and recorded in the Wildlife Log.
The alligator is also Leonida's mascot in fiction. Macca the Gator is an in-game TV show, named in Rockstar's store copy for the Goodtime State Vice City Collection. How alligators behave toward the player, whether they attack swimmers, and whether one sits in the Legendary tier that Dexerto reports are all unconfirmed until launch. Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's last game with a full wildlife system, had alligators that attacked on approach and a legendary one tied to a mission.
