Dog
Dogs turn up in GTA 6's Leonida in several roles: animals you can pet, pets that can be set on you, and police K9 units that join pursuits. Petting a dog registers positively with the Criminal Profile; Beebom reports that shooting a police K9 counts against it.
Vice's post-preview coverage, based on the July 2026 Rockstar North preview, lists dogs among the species in Leonida, and the Extended Look showed a karma response to petting one. Edge Issue 430, the GamesRadar+ cover story published October 29 2026, adds an everyday encounter: Jason stares too long at a man walking a dog, the man unclips the leash, and the dog gives chase.
Edge also describes police K9 units. After a stinger strip wrecks Jason and Lucia's stolen motorcycle, a K9 unit joins the pursuit and the Alsatian pins Jason to the ground while the Rockstar staff watching urge Rob Nelson not to shoot it. Beebom reports that shooting the dog hurts your Criminal Profile, whether you are playing as Jason or Lucia.
Whether civilian dogs can be harmed, what other breeds appear, and the wanted level that brings in a K9 unit are unconfirmed until launch.
